Slow Morning

I think my body is rebelling against how busy I've been lately. I spent most of the day Friday in a bit of a haze (still got things done) and was dead tired when I got home. But I was still sufficiently on edge that I wound up sitting up finishing Little Brother until 1:30, and I still woke up at 7:30. No fair.

Today, I need to find a new stereo for my car (already have the speakers) and arrange to have it installed. Man there are some rip-offs lurking out there. I went into the Car Toys near work, and the 20-ish salesman tried to convince me that it really did cost $200 to install the speakers in my front doors. And another $125 for the back. And $50 for the aux connector. Cheez.

I may very well wind up going to a store like Circuit City, which I hate, because all the local shops seem to be either too high-end or too sleazy.

Yet another example of our new and wonderful dumbbell economy, where everything is either made of hand-carved titanium inset with rubies, or it's a piece of crap from China.

On the Road

I'm in San Francisco this week, playing the role of Booth Babe for my product. I like doing these shows, even though I still need to do a full day's work, PLUS the time spent on the show floor.

I'm taking advantage of being in SF to meet up with a couple of people I haven't seen in a while - a former co-worker from Sapient who has his own research business, and one of my former business partners.

Very different people, with very different talents, but both of them take me back to different stages of my career.

There's a lunch today for prominent security bloggers. I'll get the chance to meet Bruce Schneier. I'm looking forward to that.
